Can a stock radio that plays only cds, be compatible with acd changer that also plays mp3's ?

I have a 1998 Pontiac trans am with a delco stereo, i want to get the sony xplode 10 disc cd changer that also plays mp3. Can i install it on my factory radio or do i need a new stereo? If i use the stock radio would it be able to play mp3?
